widgets: the holy grail

widgets, small self contained programs that can be plugged into web application like a blog or social network. This small things that we can see in the web are making hits in the online advertising. It can cure ailing online ads. Online advertisers need tools and ways to draw users attentions. The so called branded ads, some sort of blinking banners run across the top of the screen are irritants most users train themselves to ignore this. What advertisers need, is to transform brand advertising from a nuisance to something actually could use or someone could interact with them. Advertisers need to measure the success of ads. Most advertisers still price ads base on page view, but it doesn't work at all. We need a new a tool to capture what happening to our ads. I called this "engagement", welcome to the future of online advertising folks, this kind of online advertising is all about who paid the most attention. If advertising is the engine that the internet contents runs on, then your attention is what fuels the net economy. The bottom line is, its just you that everybody's' in he web fighting over, users like me and you. see more:

Battle of the social network

  • May 1, 2008

Social networking is all about cultural phenomenon. Myspace and facebook are some of the buzziest site in the web. For those who haven't logged on the site, it is the online equivalent of your high school, college quad, lunchroom and favorite bar. Its a place to hang out and express yourself. Users could post profiles and decorate them with photos, music, blogs, video and links. Myspace and facebook comparison is inevitable because of their dominance in the web But who's really the best? Facebook is great, its got clean, tidy, interface , ease of navigations and efficiency. The most striking features amazed me is the " live wire" this are kind of personal wire service that let you track updates and changes on your friend's pages. Its started as college dorm room service, intended to be used only to connect people which already know off line. Facebook got nice widgets on its got no video and probably it will never have. Myspace is different, is a mecca of media rich in music and video. Its the de facto homepage for the music industry. Its got messy interface, you might get lost or stuck in the middle of nowhere, you better bring your own maps. Navigation is worst sometimes and quiet complex. Those flashing text are nuisances to the users, you cannot even read other profiles because of these flamboyant, chaotic and florid things with flashing text that appear as you soon visit the site. But it got massive resources. Good video. I considered myspace as de facto promotional platform, any brands can have profile and can have friends. Myspace is raw and bursting with appeal, its a "lifestyle brand". Myspace is all about letting people be what they want to be. You could feel the heat of the competition. Competition is always good. Its all about improvement and quality. Here both must play better. Myspace must get better. Facebook must get better. The only losers here fella will be the consumer internet companies that pretend its all just a passing fad. see more:

Stop Google!

Google, a company so addicted in online ads. There’s no end for the search giant’s ambitions. Google will keep on looking for new ways to organize and search for info and it will try to make revenue on most of them, through online ads. Google seems always to bring clever new features, a promising new opportunity. No one in the history of the web has altered the web the way the Google.com did. It’s made some headlines. A plan for new forms of social advertising something Facebook have. A grand plan to redefine the mobile phone, a new form of mobile advertising platform and many unannounced products on the drawing board. Google’s Adsense network was a success, it created a mass media. It’s started to used its Adsense network to distribute its videos to the web publishers; it redefined “content distributions”. All of this sounds trouble, a potent threat to any company that stands in its way. Who will gonna stop Google? Will someone out there tell Google to stop . . . . . rolling out new products! I am a Google users but I cannot remember all the products it have, sometimes promising new products are buried deep within Google’s site that users cannot find them. This is too much for the search giant, a user gets lost in the middle of the web.

Google vs. Facebook, who will...

Google vs. Facebook, who will gonna win? The first great battle of the web, it’s all about the future of online ads. The stakes is high. Facebook against Google, the tale of the tape is here: Facebook got maybe 50 millions users, while Google’s Open Social Consortium got 200 millions users. Google maybe bigger, got deep pockets and formidable resources but Facebook has the speed of the upstart. Facebook has just unveiled the best medium ever in the online advertising arena, it’s a breakthrough. While Google is still formulating it own plan. An ad strategy still to come. Facebook is the only company in the web that Google is playing a catch up. This time Facebook got the perfect ally, Microsoft. This fight is like David and Goliath. Facebook got the perfect model to sell ads online. But Google is readying a counterattack. The battle may determine advertising’s future. This could be the biggest war on the web. The question is “who’s gonna win?” and "who's the man?"

microsoft and yahoo! marriage

Microsoft Bids $44.6 Billion for Yahoo
Microsoft Bids $44.6 Billion for Yahoo
What! is this a joke? Microsoft, the world’s largest software company, wants to buy Yahoo!( $44.6 Billions bid), this could be the largest global online network. Is this true? This could the biggest ever single acquisitions in the internet economy. For Microsoft, this was the best move, to able to compete heads to head to Google. We all know that Microsoft and Yahoo! Are the second and third must traffic site properties in the net. Integrating Microsoft’s code head culture with Yahoo! vibe is a complete mess, but it will give Microsoft a major beachhead in the Silicon Valley. A deal that would rock the net world. Both Yahoo! and Microsoft have two not bad search engine and consumer brands. Separately, Yahoo! And Microsoft is goliaths. Combining them, would be an even bigger, I’m talking about the biggest web portals around. Does Microsoft really need Yahoo!? Microsoft just wants to sell more ads on web. The worst things are, if you are not good in online advertising business and why buy anybody who is. Google is the sole dominant in online advertising. Online advertising is all about size and smarts, and Microsoft and Yahoo! got only one while Google got both. Microsoft primary objective here is to get more competitive in search ads and hopes for future growth. We may see that Microsoft got monopolistic again, it got history of turning a particular things into industry dominance even it got no good idea. They just done it in desktop software before, they would bull the web, the way they bull the software. They have known to rally and crush their rivals (remember Netscape), whatever the reason of buyout is not important to us, we the average user got the real power here, we fueled the internet economy.

The next advertising battleground

Tech Central
The cell phone the ultimate targeted marketing personal machine and it could be the biggest thing in advertising since TV. With more on than 2 Billion users, its potential is great and their is another services that could be nourished: location based services, carriers know exactly where the caller or subscriber is, the potential for advertisers to mold campaign aimed at specific individual is staggering. Google, the $120 Billions dollar internet monster saw an oppprtunity to sell ads to this market, will Google do it again in cellular market what they do in the net. Google is not the only company eyeing to this cellphone as a lucrative market to sell ads, Yahoo is also planning to enter they just start it, Microsoft, the software giants where not playing catch up, they also hope to make it, they also have they own battleplan(I hope they got coz Google is preparing to unleashed its power to mobile.). Mobile Carriers must aware that customer was very sensitive when it come to privacy. or else someone must miss them.

Another Hyped? Another platform? Another killer application. Once again it’s the new Microsoft Server 2008, the most advanced server operating system, designed to power the next generations if networks, applications and web services. It’s got new web tools, security enhancements, virtualizations tech and managements utilities help save time, effort, reduce costs, provide a secure network infrastructures, and increase technological efficiency and solid foundation for your IT infrastructures. It’s built for the web; it got Virtualizations built-in and security enhancements. One of the most striking I admire about Windows Server 2008, its has Virtualizations built-in, the next generations hypervisor technology based server virtualization technology, allows us to make use of server hardware investments. We can efficiently run multiple operating system parallel on a single server. It do offer the best of this world when its comes to technology and features but it cots fairly? Or too much? Does Microsoft have its new licensing policies? Microsoft have the latest weapon in its arsenal, it gonna make a sleeper hit.

Nintendo fever

@The Wii, Nintendo's latest worldwide sensations. It is one of those devices that are amazing and cheap enough. Its sophisticated technology presented in an elegant way. The Wii is bringing people of all demographic together. It’s revolutionize and changes the way we use videogame controller, Wii is an interactive system that emphasizes physical activity, it do have huge impact and probably it gonna change the gaming culture. It already redefines a video game. Some people saw it as a form of exercise. What Nintendo do in gaming industry is quite great. They separate themselves from a throng of bloody competition (videogame market) and setout to create new markets. They created a new form of entertainment. Wii creator Nintendo decree to battle indifference, not the competition. Nintendo realized it wasn't a fear of gadgets that kept average consumers from playing games, that’s how they come out for the Wii design. Wii is all about game expansion and it’s pretty cheap. Nintendo deigned the Wii not just a videogame, they take another route, cramming more technology into consoles would only make the games more expensive harder to use and worst all, less fun, much complex. There are 4 ways to buy a Wii, you can go to store and wait inline; you can go to eBay or try Amazon. The last one is go to Missouri. At $250 only its one pretty devices.
